Field Maintenance

Teams are responsible for making sure the fields are maintained during the season.  Field Maintenance takes place every Sunday from 9-11 am.

Below are guidelines to preparing/breaking down the fields and putting equipment away:

Preparing the fields:

  • Before painting the base lines, water the lanes (between home and 1st and home and 3rd) and home plate area.  By doing this, the paint will better adhere to the dirt and we use less spray paint which can get expensive.
  • Make sure the top of the rubber on the pitching mound is flush with the dirt so players have an even pitching level.
  • When the water is working, it's a great idea to water the infield dirt from 1st to 3rd.

Breakdown the fields:

  • When using the sweep drag, please stay 6 inches away from the grass.
  • Make sure the base lines are raked as well.
  • Remove any build up of dirt on the grass
  • Fill in ANY holes at home plate and the pitching mound.
  • Make sure the dirt on the pitching mound is back to being flush with the top of the rubber.

When putting equipment away:

  • Make sure that you return any equipment to the right place in the field maintenance room to maintain safe access to equipment for others.
  • Store the tops of the removable bases on the shelves in the field maintenance area.
  •  The paint marker machines should go in the field maintenance room.
